ALPINE Bau GmbH and RZDstroy found infrastructure joint venture
The cooperative venture will be lead on equal terms: Alexey Konovalov (RZDstroy) and Andreas Schökel (ALPINE) are functioning as managing directors; Members of the Supervisory Board are Oleg Toni, vice-president of the Russian Railways, Evgeny Dorot (RZDstroy), and Christian Trattner and Roman Esterbauer, the managing directors of the ALPINE Bau GmbH.
The main focus of the cooperative venture will be the joint project work, as seen in the following projects: Alptransit Brenner Baulos A 1 - basic equipment, Tirol, and the building of two tunnels in Sotchi, in the region of Krasnodar, Russian Federation, which will be built during the Olympic Games in 2014.
The RZDstroy is a subsidiary of the Russian Railways. The emphasis of its business activity is on planning and implementing railway projects within the Russian Federation. However, the company is also active in building construction, so that the joint venture is not limited to Railway projects only. In 2008 the RZDstroy achieved a profit of appr. 2 billion EUR and employed 11.000 workers.
The ALPINE Bau GmbH had a building output of 3,5 billion EUR in the year of 2008 and employed 15.530 workers, which makes it the second largest constructing firm in Austria and enables it to implement projects in 26 countries worldwide. The company’s range of performance regarding construction activity in Austria and on an international level reaches from building construction, transportation routes, bridge construction, underground mining, foundation engineering to building sports grounds or power plants, and environmental technology.
