Specht Rechtsanwalt GmbH hosts International Working Group on Russian Civil Code
The Civil Code of the Russian Federation is subject to review. To this effect, working groups have been formed with the Research Center for Private Law with the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation. As a first step, a so-called conceptia was approved containing the basic principles of the reform. Now the Civil Code is undergoing redrafting in accordance with such conceptia. A preliminary draft of a first part of the Civil Code has been prepared and concerns the new regulation of legal entities. As in the past, Professor Dr. Peter Doralt and Dr. Leopold Specht are organizing the workshop-like meetings between Russian experts involved in the drafting of the Civil Code and Austrian experts in the relevant fields.On 17 and 18 June, a Russian-Austrian working group met in the office of Specht Rechtsanwalt GmbH in Vienna to discuss issues of regulating legal entities and to work on the first draft of Chapter 4 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation concerning legal entities.
Members of the working group included, Prof. Evgeny Sukhanov, Dr. Sergey Denisov and Honorable Sergey Sarbasch. Prof. Sukhanov is Dean of the Law Faculty of the Moscow State University. Honorable Sergey Sarbasch is a Member of the Presidium of the Supreme Commercial Court of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the 6th Panel of Judges. Dr. Sergey Denisov, heads the Research Center for Private Law of the President of Russian Federation.
In addition to Dr. Leopold Specht, Austrian experts included Prof. Dr. Peter Doralt, Prof Dr. Peter Rummel, and Prof Dr. Martin Winner, amongst others. Professor Dr. Peter Doralt, author of numerous publications in the area of corporate law, is former Chairman of the Austrian Takeover Commission. Prof. Dr. Martin Winner is current Chairman of the Austrian Takeover Commission, and Director of the Research Institute of Central and Eastern European Business Law. Prof Dr. Peter Rummel is chief editor and author of the leading commentary on the Austrian Civil Code as well as author of many other publications.
