Treaty on Double Taxation between Austria and Serbia
The new Treaty on Double Taxation between Austria and Serbia enters into force on 1 January 2011.Although Austria invested around EUR 2.4 billion and over 300 Austrian companies have subsidiaries in Serbia, double taxation has not been regulated through a bi-lateral treaty until now. After a year of negotiations, the Austrian and Serbian Ministers of Finance signed a treaty in May. The Serbian and Austrian Parliament have ratified the treaty and it will therefore enter into force on 1 January 2011. The Treaty is expected to strengthen the bilateral economic relations between the countries and improve legal security.
