Kiev Arbitration Days 2013 on 14 to 15 November: Think Big!

The third Kiev Arbitration Days (KAD) will take place in Kiev, Ukraine, on 14 and 15 November 2013 under the auspices of the Ukrainian Bar Association.

The KAD were first launched in November 2011.

After a very successful start, the conference has firmly established itself on the international arbitration conference calendar. The third conference will take place on 14 – 15 November 2013. SPECHT BÖHM supports the conference as one of the main sponsors. Partner Erhard Böhm is acting as a Member of the Organizing Committee of the conference.

The first day of the conference will be dedicated to international commercial arbitration, the second day to international investment arbitration.

Topics that will be covered on the first day by expert speakers from Ukraine and from fourteen other countries will include the scope and borderlines of arbitrator’ powers to adjudicate, the roles of experts and the setting-aside of awards. Day 1 of the conference will also see a presentation on investigative support in arbitration and a lecture by Lord Hoffmann, a former senior judge of the English House of Lords, on the good faith doctrine. A special session at the end of the day will concern energy disputes.

The second day will see perspectives on risk in relation to investment protection and investment climate, treaty structuring and tax planning for investment protection, the risks and opportunities of government contracts as well as political risk insurance.
