Kiev Arbitration Days 2012 – 15 to 16 November

The second Kiev Arbitration Days will take place in Kiev, Ukraine, on 15 and 16 November 2012 under the auspices of the Ukrainian Bar Association.

The Kiev Arbitration Days were first launched by the Ukrainian Bar Association in November 2011. About 130 experts from 15 different countries attended the first such international arbitration conference inUkraine. SPECHT BÖHM partner Erhard Böhm acted as one of the members of the first hour of the Organising Committee that assisted the Ukrainian Bar Association in putting together an ambitious program with high profile speakers.

After a very successful start, the second Kiev Arbitration Days will take place in mid-November 2012. SPECHT BÖHM partner Erhard Böhm was again honoured by the invitation to become a member of the Organising Committee. SPECHT BÖHM supports the conference as one of the main sponsors. The first day of the conference will be dedicated to commercial arbitration, the second day to investment treaty arbitration.

Topics that will be covered on the first day by expert speakers from Ukraine and abroad will include issues of arbitrability and sovereign immunity, interim measures in international arbitration and their enforceability, the disqualification of arbitrators and experts, special presentations on international commercial arbitration from the perspective of the psychological theory of the law and of ICSID arbitration. The second day will see analyses of the various stages of the development of investment treaty arbitrations, from the preparation and commencement of the arbitration to procedural skirmishes through to the battle of cross-examination.
